Enabling Alerts for Late Student Submissions
Moodle allows teachers to receive alerts for student assignment submissions that are late or overdue. These notifications can help you monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
Step 1: Enable Notifications for Late Submissions
Log into your course and toggle ‘edit mode’ on in the top-right corner.
Click the three-dot menu next to any assignment to edit its settings'.
Scroll down to ‘Notifications’ and set ‘Notify graders about late submissions’ to ‘Yes’.
Save your changes.
Step 2: Check Your Notification Preferences
Navigate to your User Profile by clicking your name in the top-right corner and selecting Preferences.
Under the Notification preferences section, confirm that email or web notifications for Late Submissions are enabled.
Group Mode Limitations
If the course or the assignment is in ‘Separate Groups' mode, notifications for late submissions are sent only to the group’s assigned teacher.
Who receives notifications:
Separate Groups:
A Teacher or Teacher (Editor) assigned to a specific group will only receive notifications for students in their group.
A Teacher or Teacher (Editor) not assigned to a group will not receive notifications.
Visible Groups:
Notifications are sent to every Teacher and Teacher (Editor), but Teachers can only view and grade submissions from their own groups.
No Groups Mode:
Every Teacher and Teacher (Editor) in the course receives notifications for late submissions and can view and grade all submissions.
