Grant extensions

Grant extensions

Why use it?

If, for some reason, there is a change in the submission deadline, you can change the original dates by editing the assignment. However, granting extensions allows you to extend the deadline for individual students or groups of students.

How to grant an extension for an Assignment activity?

If ‘anonymous submissions’ is in use and you have the Teacher or Teacher(Editor) role you can now grant extensions with Moodle 4.5.

Grant an extension on individual basis

  1. Click the assignment and select Submissions. (You can do this regardless of whether there have been any submissions).

  2. Select the student or students to whom you want to grant an extension.

  3. Scroll down to the end of the page and, from the Sticky Footer, select Extend. A pop-up box will appear to confirm extension.

  4. Select Extend.

  5. Choose a new Extension due date and Save changes.

Grant an extension using User or Group overrides

It is possible to create User or Group overrides and allow one or several students to have their own agreed extension. When you are in the assignment settings click on More and from the drop-down menu select Overrides.

The Overrides screen will confirm the absence of overrides or detail any overrides already in place and from here you can select to create either a User or a Group override.

After selecting either a User overrides or Group overrides you will be moved through to a settings screen for the override where you change the due date as required. To save your changes, lick either Save or Save and enter another override.
