Sections
Why use them?
All Moodle courses are divided into separate sections that contain specific content in the form of resources and activities that relate to the different weeks or topics of the course.
The top section of a course section should remain as empty as possible, to avoid excessive scrolling to access content. Adding lengthy welcome messages is discouraged for this reason.
Step 1: Edit the section name and description
Go to the course page and switch on Edit Mode.
Click on the three dots icon to the right of the section and select Edit section from the menu options. In the section settings page, enter add a Section name and Description.
Click Save changes.
Quick editing of the section name
Click the pencil icon next to the section title and enter a new name. Press enter to save changes.
Step 2: Move and hide sections
With Edit Mode on.
Click on the three dots icon to access the section menu. The section can be be hidden from students or moved within the course.
Step 3: Add a section
With Edit Mode on, navigate to the bottom of the course and click the Add section button.
