Supportive documentation | Dr Locke says... For the UG course I asked students to submit their work as a PDF on Moodle. I asked GTA’s to mark the work on Moodle and flag any work that needed review by the moderator. I then filtered the grade book to find any any work that was flagged 'in review' to moderate it. I could also download the offline marking worksheet to see an overview of all marks and feedback. For the PG course I asked students to submit their work as a PDF on Moodle and I marked the work and flagged anything for moderation. “The main benefits to marking and providing feedback online were that it was quicker and easier to complete marking. Moderation could be done immediately and all the work and feedback could be viewed easily. “ The main disadvantages to marking and providing feedback online were that I could not access the marking offline for marking on the move. Next year I will continue to use online marking and feedback. GTAs marking on the module said “Overall, I found marking on Moodle very handy. For essays (and any other big assignments) it works really well as a marker does not have to carry all the paper work.” “I really enjoyed marking in Moodle, it was a faster than usual marking.” “Overall, I think Moodle is good as everything is in one place and easily accessible” Administrators managing the process said "my experience of using the Moodle assignment tool for MG105 marking and feedback was very positive. I definitely believe it made everything much simpler and clearer for students. Overall it was much cleaner from an admin perspective as we didn’t have to deal with the usual feedback mailmerge which was great!" "Overall I thought it was easy to set up and navigate, and I will definitely encourage other course leaders to move across to marking this way". |
