How to customise the appearance of your CampusPress site

When you first access your CampusPress site, it will be set up with a default theme. However, you are free to customise the appearance of your site in a way that best suits your purposes. Customisation options include:
When customising the appearance of your site do NOT change the Site Title. This must remain as created by the administrators because it has been chosen to help both you and staff distinguish between your own and other students' sites. However, you may choose to change the Tagline for the site.
Unlike WordPress, you can only use the themes, widgets and plugins that are made available through CampusPress.
Themes
The theme you choose determines the overall appearance and layout of your site. Because different themes will satisfy some but not all of your design ambitions, it’s worth experimenting with a number of different themes before finalising which one to use. While doing so you can use Live Preview and Theme Customizer to assess what changes to make to individual themes in order to achieve your aims. Menu
Your menu is key to making your site easy to navigate. Once you have chosen your theme, you will need to ensure that your menu is set up in a way that makes logical sense. Most themes allow you to customise the menu. Because each theme places the menu in a different location, whenever you change to a new theme you may need to reassign your custom menu to your preferred location. Widgets
The theme you apply may already have a number of widgets placed in the sidebar of your site by default. You can remove these widgets and add others as you see fit. Widgets provide both you and your audience quick access to a range of content, either on your site (for example, recent posts or comments) or elsewhere (for example, class blogs and image feeds).
Plugins
If you wish to increase the functionality of your site, CampusPress has a number of pre-approved plugins you can choose to activate. Many of the available plugins can impact on the appearance and accessibility of your site. The following CampusPress guide takes you through the available plugins and how to activate them:
