  1. From June 22, 2021 LSE will be implementing implemented a 90 day Zoom cloud recordings retention policy. This means that all Zoom sessions recorded to “the cloud” will be are retained for a period of 90 days, after which they will be automatically deleted.

  2. This will apply retrospectively from June 22 so that all recordings made before March 24th, 2021 will be deleted.

  3. Where a teacher also has an Echo 360 account linked to their LSE email address, all of their Zoom session recordings are automatically copied to their Echo 360 personal library. These "Echo 360" copies will not be deleted after 90 days. All links See this “Using Zoom to record teaching sessions” guide for how to link to these from Moodle.

  4. Links should NOT be made directly from Moodle courses to Zoom cloud recordings should be removed and replaced with links to their Echo 360 counterparts. This needs to be completed before the LSE Moodle Archive is created for this academic year on June 21. See our Echo 360 guide for help on how to publish and link to Echo 360 recordings that originated from Zoomas these copies will be automatically deleted after 90 days.

  5. If you are not an LSE teacher or your Zoom cloud recordings have not been automatically copied to Echo 360 then you need to transfer them to your LSE Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage if you wish to retain your recordings.

  1. If LSE is nearing its Zoom recordings storage limit, the LSE Eden Digital Team will manually delete recordings older than 90 days that have been recovered from the Zoom “Trash” folder or that have been excluded from auto-deletion by the recording owner.

This policy is required as LSE does not have unlimited only has limited Zoom cloud recording storage and after a year of online lectures we have now reached our full capacity. , whereas Echo 360 provides storage of recordings for up to 4 years and keeping . Keeping long-term copies of these recordings on Zoom would mean unnecessary duplication and a waste of LSE resourceresources.
