This guide will walk you through the steps to seamlessly integrate Mentimeter into your PowerPoint presentations. By following these instructions, you’ll be able to enhance your slides with interactive live polls and real-time audience engagement.

1. Inserting the Mentimeter Add-in
To integrate Mentimeter into your PowerPoint presentation within the Desktop version, navigate to the slide where you want to add the Mentimeter content.
Click on the ‘Home’ tab and then from ‘Add-ins’ (located in the far right side of the menu) you can select the Mentimeter add-in .
The Mentimeter add-in will then appear on your slide as an interactive image which can be moved and adjusted in size.
Please be aware that the Mentimeter Add-in for PowerPoint will only work when using the desktop version, NOT in PowerPoint Online (web version). For further information you can refer to the minimum specifications for running the PowerPoint Add-in as outlined by Mentimeter themselves.
2. Logging into Mentimeter from the Add-in
To login to your Mentimeter account from within the PowerPoint Add-In, click on ‘Log in with SSO’.
This will prompt you to select ‘Log in’ and be redirected to Mentimeter in the web-browser where you will login and a verification code will be shared with you to input into the PowerPoint Add-In.
You will need to ensure that you are logged into the Mentimeter Add-in for PowerPoint through Single-Sign On (SSO) before the beginning of each teaching session. This is particularly important to keep in mind when using the on-campus PCs.
3. Adding Mentimeter content to your PowerPoint presentation
a. Create new content using the Add-In
You can create Mentimeter questions directly within PowerPoint by selecting ‘New Menti’.
Note: Only the core question types can be created / edited from with the PPT Add-in

Hover over the question types to display a preview and simply click on the one you would like to use.
On the right hand side you will be able access the Content, Design and Settings options to create / edit your Mentimeter question.
b. Use existing Mentimeter questions
You can add existing content directly from your Mentimeter account by selecting ‘Use an existing Menti’.
Select the existing Mentimeter presentation you wish to link and then click ‘Add’ to insert the question into your PowerPoint Presentation. You will be able to edit the question once it appears within the Add-in.
Only one existing Mentimeter presentation can be linked using the PowerPoint Add-in at once. To link an alternative presentation you will need to ‘Disconnect’ any previously linked presentations
To include existing content which is not a core question type, you can access the old version of the add-in to include it within your PowerPoint presentation. Please note that you will unable to edit this content from directly within PowerPoint though.
4. Presenting with the Mentimeter Add-in
To collect responses you must open PowerPoint in the ‘Slide Show’ view and click on ‘Start Menti’ to allow participants to begin submitting responses.
If you are presenting from various devices such as a teaching room computer then you will need to login to the Mentimeter Add-in each teaching session. To avoid this you could consider using the in-room laptop input to present from your own device which you would be logged in through already.
An interactive tool bar will appear in the bottom left-hand corner of the content slide. This offers the option to hide/show the joining instructions (QR code) and results. You also have the option to close the voting from here.
5. Managing and resetting results in the Mentimeter Add-in
To view or reset the results for a Mentimeter question in your PowerPoint presentation select ‘Content’ and ‘Manage results’ when in editing mode.
You will be presented with the option to either a.) View results or b.) Reset results. If you wish to reset the results you must chose to do so for either the individual slide that you are currently on or the entire presentation.
