Why use it?

This option enables the marker to control when grades and feedback are released to students on a cohort or individual basis. It also provides a way to keep course organisers and students informed of the exact status of the marking process. It can be used with or without blind marking ‘anonymous submissions’ and with or without marking allocation.

Step 1: Enabling Marking Workflow

...

When you set up your assignment make sure that you set Use marking workflow to Yesin the edit settings of the assignment under the section Grade. Set up the rest of the settings as per the Assignment set-up guide.

Note: Marking workflow is enabled by default on all assignments but can be changed in the edit settings.

Step 2: Set Marking Workflow state

Set the appropriate marking workflow state from the available list. As you start marking, it is likely to be In marking. The other available states are:

  • Not marked – the marker has not yet started

  • In marking the marker has started but not yet finished

  • Marking completed – the marker has finished but might need to go back for checking/corrections

  • In review – the marking is now with the person in charge for quality checking, this . This is useful for first markers to flag work for moderation.

  • Ready for release – the person in charge is satisfied with the marking but is waiting before giving students access to the marking

  • Released – the student can access the grades/feedback
