We’re changing the way the new academic year is handled in Moodle. New course pages for the 2024/25 academic year will become available and the old 2023/24 courses will be housed in a special archive section within the main moodle.lse.ac.uk site.

When will I gain access to my new courses?

Course enrolments will take place on September 24 and may take up to 48 hours to process. If you do not see a course on your Moodle dashboard right away, don’t worry—this likely means the course convenor has not yet made it visible. You can expect it to appear within the next few weeks.

How do I access the 2023/24 archives?

Instead of creating a separate archive site as we have previously done, the 2023/24 archive (and all subsequent years) will be housed in a special archive section of the main Moodle site.

Courses will enter archive mode and be placed into the archived section from October 11.

What is ‘read-only’ mode?

When accessing a course in read-only mode, users still have permission to view anything they could before, but can no longer make any changes. This matches the current restrictions in the existing archives.

Read-only mode is used to ensure course materials remain unchanged for students who need to refer back to them for revision or resits.

Why can’t I find the archived version of my course?

If you cannot find the archived version of a course after October 11, it may be because the course has an extended end date and will be archived later. In this case, you may still find it in the "Past" section of your Moodle dashboard. Alternatively, the course may have been hidden by the course convenor.
