2. Assignment Settings

Assignment settings include options for Teacher Editors and Moodle administrators.

2.1 Release grades without revealing student identities

In the previous version of LSE Moodle (4.1), release of grades to students required revealing student identities. With the transition to the new version of Moodle (4.5), the option to release grades without revealing student identities can now be enabled under settings.

Updating the assignment marking workflow to ‘Released’ now allows students to view their grade and feedback comment whilst maintaining anonymity in the assignment submissions table.

3. User Interface

Revamps to the assignment interface place key actions at the top and introduced a sticky footer for bulk actions, streamlining the grading process and providing quicker access to important functions.

3.1 Search & filter

Instantly search or filter for students via student name, or Participant ID (when anonymous submissions is enabled).

3.2 Sticky footer

A persistent footer in Moodle 4.5 allows users to, either individually or in bulk, update marking workflow ('state'), locked/unlock submissions, download submissions, upload feedback and grant extensions. This replaces the ‘With selected…' menu under the submissions table in the previous LSE Moodle (4.1).

3.3 Grading students

The red ‘Grade’ button familiar to users of the previous LSE Moodle (4.1), has been removed in the update to Moodle 4.5. The option to grade a student is now available by clicking on the three dots in the ‘Grade’ column.

3.4 Feedback comments with tinyMCE

Teachers can now write feedback comments using the tinyMCE editor (new to Moodle 4.5). This improves your ability to format text. Video feedback through the Echo360 button remains available.
