Bulk Edit Functionality
New Bulk Edit Mode in Moodle 4.5
Moodle 4.5 introduces a useful Bulk Edit feature that allows staff to quickly manage multiple course elements (such as activities, resources, and sections) at once. This saves time and simplifies common tasks like moving, hiding, or duplicating items.
What is Bulk Edit?
Bulk Edit allows you to:
Select multiple activities or resources.
Perform actions like Move, Duplicate, Hide/Show, or Delete in one go.
Quickly organize course content without editing items one at a time.
Where to Find Bulk Edit
Turn Editing On
Click the “Edit mode” toggle at the top right of your course page.
Access Bulk Edit Mode
Click the new “Bulk edit” button located at the top right of your course (just below the ‘Edit Mode' toggle).
How to Use Bulk Edit
1. Select Items
Once in Bulk Edit mode, checkboxes appear next to all activities and resources.
Select one or more items across sections by clicking the checkboxes.
2. Choose an Action
After selecting items, a menu will appear at the bottom (or top) of the screen with available actions:
Availability – make selected items invisible (hide) or visible (show) to students.
Duplicate – create copies of selected items.
Move – relocate selected items.
Delete – permanently remove items (you’ll be asked to confirm).
Exiting Bulk Edit Mode
To exit Bulk Edit mode:
Click the “x” button or the “Bulk edit” button again to return to normal editing.
