A Public account may be requested for a user that does not have an LSE account and who needs to access Moodle. For example, Public accounts might be particularly helpful for external assessors. If the user will need read-only permissions to a course, it is advised to enable a Guest Access enrolment method instead

Public accounts should, in general, not be used for people who are intending to join LSE as staff or students in the future. Where this does happen, users must discontinue use of their Public account as soon as they are issued with an LSE Network account. Ideally, such users will close their Public accounts using the self-service page.

Note also that Public accounts do not grant access to any of the electronic readings provided by the Library.

To request an LSE Public account, contact us at eden@digital.lse.ac.uk and provide the user’s full name and their valid external email address.

Public account users can be enrolled in a course via Manual enrolment method (see Enrolment methods).
