Written instructions

1. Firstly you will need to access Echo360 using www.echo360.org.uk or via the Moodle ‘Echo360’ in Moodle. Simply access it if it already exists or add it to your course, following the instructions below:

  • Log in to Moodle with your LSE Network Username and password.

  • Navigate to your course, and click Turn editing on.

  • Scroll to the section in which you want the link to your recordings to appear.

  • Click Add an activity or resource.

  • In the “Activity chooser”, select Echo360 and Add.

  • Type a name for the activity, e.g. “Lecture recordings”.

  • Click Save and display and the Echo360 platform should open up in a new tab (check your browser settings as pop up blockers will stop a new tab from opening).

2. On your Echo360 page you should see the Start Capture or Universal Capture button at the top.

You will need to search under both the find the room you wish to record in.

3. Choose which room you are in and the length of the recording.

4. Publish to Library or search for your course code.

5. Click start.

6. The recording will start seconds later and you should see the recording light turn to red.

Before you start

To be able to publish recordings to the Echo360 system, you need to be registered as an Instructor

  • If your timetabled lectures are already being recorded, you will already have an Echo360 account, and will be registered as an Instructor.

  • If you are a Teacher or a Teacher (Editor) in a Moodle course, and that course has a link to lecture recordings, you can follow that link to become an Instructor in the corresponding Echo360 section.

  • If you want to create recordings for a different course or are not already registered as instructor, contact eden.lecturerecording@lse.ac.uk and state the course to which you want to publish.

In the classroom

Visit https://echo360.org.uk and enter your LSE email address to log in. Your Echo360 homepage will look like this:

  • Click the “Universal Capture” button, in pink at the top right of the page

  • Choose which room you are in, and specify the length of the recording

  • Search for your course code to publish the recording immediately, or choose “Publish to library” to save the recording in “My Content” so you can edit it later

  • Click start

  • The recording will start a few seconds later. The recording light on the lectern or desk will change to red
