Why use it?

Course formats help you structure your course content using different layouts.

What ever format you choose try and make your course as accessible and user friendly as possible with clear labels, meaningful titles and descriptive names for files and images.

Step 1: Select a course format

Go to the course page and Turn editing on.

Changing the format of an existing course will not remove any content.

Course formats available at LSE

The formats that are available at LSE are listed below. Please note that for most purposes, the Grid and Collapsed Topics formats are to be preferred, because they allow for a compact display that helps students find what they need. The Weekly and Topics formats tend to lead to long pages that are harder to navigate.

Grid format

This format, hides all content and creates a grid of icons and/or images for each section.

Collapsed topics format

All course sections except the General section are collapsed. Sections can be toggled to hide or expand the section content.

Weekly

The course page is organised into weeks based on the course start date chosen form the course settings.
